To spice things up, 2K had announced earlier in the week that the Aztecs will not be available for the first 90 days unless the player pre-ordered the game. While admittedly discouraging, the option of not pre-ordering stings less due to the fact that the civilization will be locked away for only 3 months, after which it will be released for free to all players who own Civilization VI.
The Aztecs are led by Montezuma I. During the Aztec’s existence, he was the second emperor of the Aztecs and was responsible for the most highly advanced city of the Aztec empire, Tenochtitlan with its complex temple designs and aqueducts. A trailer showcasing the civilization is shown below:
Montezuma’s special ability is called Gifts for the Tlatoani which give luxury will give military units more power. On top of that, the Aztecs also have builders who can build districts faster. The unique unit is called the Eagle Warrior, which is a powered up version of the basic warrior except it turns defeated units into builders, perfect for aggressive expansion. The Aztecs also have the Tlatchteli which gives amenities, faith and general points at a fast pace.
The Aztecs are a particularly aggressive nation that seek to win through military force with their amenity bonuses. Civilization VI will be available from the 21st of October, 2016. Pre-ordering the game before the release date will provide players with an early access to the Aztecs upon release.
