The existence of Rise of Iron was leaked back in May. Bungie officially revealed the upcoming expansion in June. The expansion will feature a brand new story campaign set in the Plaguelands, a brand new location on Earth. The expansion will feature new weapons, armor, gear, a new cooperative Strike, a new mode and maps for the Crucible, and an all new six-player Raid.
It has been announced that Rise of Iron will only be available on current-generation consoles, and will not be coming to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Bungie has stated that last-generation consoles will be known as “legacy consoles,” and will no longer share progression with current consoles. The developer will introduce tools that will allow players to transfer their characters into current-gen within the same console family.
Destiny is available on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Rise of Iron will release on September 20th, and will set gamers back $30.
