While the game’s release is less than two weeks away, Reddit user “daymeeuhn” reportedly purchased a leaked version of No Man’s Sky on eBay for just $1300. He quickly installed the game, popped a bottle of champagne, and began uploading a video of the game running on a PlayStation 4.
Images and the video began to circle the internet (some of which have already been taken down), causing the game’s creator, Sean Murray, to express his sadness over the situation.
“We’ve spent years filling No Man’s Sky with surprises,” Murray wrote on Twitter. “You’ve spent years waiting. Please don’t spoil it for yourself.”

As a result, “daymeeuhn” took to posting a long response on Reddit as to why he purchased the game at such a high cost.
“I’m a lucky guy. I’ve done well for myself. I have disposable income and I’m happy in life,” he said. “I’m in a state of being where I don’t look at a purchase and determine the overall value by the price tag, but rather by how much happiness it will bring myself or the people I care about.” He goes on to say that he would not label the item as a “completely insane” price tag and that he is “actually pretty good with money most of the time.” You can read his full response here.
While the rest of us must wait a few more days to play No Man’s Sky, take a look what you can do in the game: exploring, fighting, trading and surviving.
