An Easter egg in Pokémon GO has been discovered that adds the option of choosing Pikachu as your starting Pokémon. Although it can be easily overlooked, the method of how to obtain the electric-mouse Pokémon is quite simple.
When you first boot up the app Professor Willow, in classic Pokémon fashion, tells you to choose from one of the three first-generation creatures: Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle.
However, if you choose to ignore this prompt, something interesting happens. Make sure to not tap the screen to accidentally pick one of the starters, and begin walking from your initial location. Eventually, the three will disappear briefly and show up at a position closer to you. Once you ignore them four times, the rosy-cheeked icon of the franchise appears.
The game’s trick is mostly likely a nod to the original installments of the franchise. The first game in the series was initially launched with two versions, Red and Blue, which offered the player with the starting monsters we see in GO. Later, a third edition was launched, Yellow, that let the player adventure Kanto with Pikachu rather than the other three.
