A prequel for PC MMO Blade & Soul is in production, developer NCSoft has announced.
Blade & Soul: Hongmoon Rising will play similarly to the original title, featuring the same universe, skill system, and more as seen in the announcement trailer below, but no other details were revealed.
A partnership established between NCSoft and Tencent Games led to the co-development of the new title for both PC and mobile in order to “bring the most authentic Blade & Soul combat experience to [the] mobile platform.” A VR version of the title is also reportedly being considered.
Blade & Soul is currently available as a free download for PC. The title is a Korean fantasy martial-arts MMORPG that came to the West earlier this year. Players choose one of four unique races (Destroyer, Kung Fu Master, Force Master, Soul Fighter) and from nine classes, with additional character customization tools “to shape your persona with near-infinite possibilities.”
“Pick from nine classes and battle foes with a fast-paced action-combat system where timing, counters, and combos are the focus. Listen well, although the way of battle is easy to learn, becoming a true master takes practice. Challenge foes in PvP duels, or explore with friends in a variety of Dungeons and hone your combat skills to match your legacy,” the game’s description reads.
