A 24-hour livestream was held on NicoNico on July 19th to help promote the upcoming Persona 5. During the stream, we received some details for the JRPG.
In Persona 5, gamers play as a 16-year-old protagonist with a criminal record. A group of characters form the “Phantom Thieves of Hearts” in order to steal hidden treasures meant to help reform the distorted minds of adults. As these teenagers delve deeper into the world, a greater enemy will emerge.
The footage shown for Persona 5 revealed details, including skills used in the game, a fishing mini-game, and a movie date with character Futaba Sakura. We also saw how players will select the protagonist’s name. After being arrested, the protagonist will be asked to write down his name, at which time players will choose their name.
Also shown was a new feature called “Mementos.” Mementos is a randomly generated dungeon that players will be able to explore. This dungeon will have players roam around with cat party member Morgana, who has the ability to turn into a bus.
