Oculus says all Rift pre-orders have finally shipped
The long wait for your Oculus Rift may finally be (almost) over. After its initial release on March 28th, many of those who pre-ordered the VR headset failed to receive it due to distribution problems. Perhaps even worse, it was possible to go into many stores and simply purchase a Rift right then and there, but those who pre-ordered were unfortunately not as lucky.
However, the company has confirmed that all Oculus Rift pre-orders have now shipped, thanking customers for their patience in the process.
“We want to apologize for the delays in getting Rifts to doorsteps,” the company wrote in a blog post. “We appreciate that without your support, VR wouldn’t be where it is today. Thank you for your patience over the past few months.” Orders should arrive within two to four business days.
Additionally, Oculus has started to “ramp up inventory” at both online retailers and brick and mortar stores, along with implementing new demo units, starting at Microsoft stores this month and then hitting more than 500 Best Buy stores this fall. You can schedule a demo and find out where they’re taking place today via Oculus Live.
What’s next for the Rift? The company plans to “introduce true hand presence along with an amazing lineup of games and experiences later this year.”
