Ubisoft is optimistic about Nintendo’s upcoming NX, stating that the console is looking “really great,” and will bring more casual players back to the industry.
“On the NX, what we have seen is really great,” Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot stated during the company’s latest earnings call (via GameSpot). “We think having a new machine coming is going to help the industry to continue to grow and to take a lot more casual players back to the industry.”
Software development kits for the NX were reportedly sent out last October. Ubisoft has confirmed that the next mainline Just Dance title will be coming to the mysterious new console, though there is a possibility that the developer is working on other titles for it as well. Nintendo’s next earnings briefing is set for July 27th, at which time the developer may give more details on their upcoming system.
The NX is predicted to launch in March 2017, though there is no specific date as of yet. The system is rumored to be a console/handheld hybrid, and will use “industry-leading” technology. It has also been reported that the NX will make use of cartridges instead of discs, though Nintendo has not commented on the matter yet.
