Much like many people who grew up in the age where video gaming was booming, some of us had a taste for the good old point-and-click adventure game genre. The fine folks at Application Systems and Backwoods Entertainment also latched onto this love affair for the genre and have released a trailer for Unforeseen Incidents. The game revolves around the point-and-click formula with an unsettling story:
“The world is threatened by a deadly virus, the majority of the human race has been wiped out. Amid this apocalyptic disaster, young Harper Pendrell receives a radio message, requesting him to warn Yelltown’s survivors since “they are coming“. A journey full of mysteries, inexplicable questions, and terrifying revelations begins and before he knows it, Harper finds himself in the middle of an adventure that affects the future of the whole human race.”
The game sets itself up to be a thriller adventure title, something that hasn’t been done to a greater degree since Clocktower and Maniac Mansion. Much like Maniac Mansion, the tone of the game seems to be moreso serious than humorous. That said, the dialogue and narration will sure to be entertaining regardless because of some external assistance.
While the team are very much young and haven’t had a chance to spread their wings yet; they’ve enlisted help from Alasdair Beckett-King who is known for his comedic acts and the recently-released successful game Nelly Cootalot: The Fowl Fleet. Not only will he provide guidance with design, dialogue and narration, Alasdair will be helping the funding for this project.
With the game only being announced recently, there is no release date plans yet. However, we do know at the very least, the game is aiming for a PC release. If you’re interested in the game, you can help support its Steam Greenlight page.
