The latest iteration of the Xbox One arrived last week in the form of a 2 terabyte white Xbox One S and now has reportedly almost sold out across at most stores.
Despite an extremely rapid sellout, according to Eurogamer, Microsoft does not currently have additional plans to produce anymore.
Both 500 GB and 1 TB size Xbox One S models are planned, though no released date or details have been provided for either of these models. Your only chance at snagging a 2 TB version is likely the Gears of War special edition that is arriving with October. This version does carry a heavier price tag at $450 versus the regular 2 TB price of $400.
Amazon currently has the release date of the 500 GB and 1 TB models listed for August 23rd, but no official date has been given.
“We’re excited by the reaction from fans for the Xbox One S. While stock of the 2TB has sold out, gamers can pre-order the Xbox One S 2TB Gears of War Limited Edition console,” a Microsoft spokesperson told Eurogamer.
The new Xbox One S is a much slimmer version of the original Xbox One, standing nearly 40% smaller. The console also allows for a 4K output of video for select applications, such as Netflix and Amazon Video.
