2016 Pokemon World Championships will not have a local audience
In a few days from now, the best competitive Pokemon players across the world will gather together to display their battling prowess through virtual and physical card battles. Unfortunately, while combatants will be participating against one another in a public venue, fans will not be able to attend the tournament venue. The decision comes from The Pokemon Company who have cited the reason to be because of limited capacity with an "overwhelming demand" for attendance. Spectators will only be able to watch the tournament via a livestream on the official Pokemon Championships site.Unfortunately, the news came in only a week before the event takes place and has caused a major inconvenience to many would-be attendees who have already booked a hotel and plane tickets to San Fransisco, where the event is scheduled to take place.

Everything else remains the same from previous years; it will feature competitive tournaments for Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, the Trading Card Game and Pokken Tournament, the entire event will take place over the course of three days and competitors under the age of 18 will need to have a guardian accompanying them. For competitors who wish to have more than one guest pass for family or another guardian will need to be quick and claim multiples. The passes will run on a ‘first come, first serve’ deal. The event is scheduled to take place on August 19th, only 4 days away.
