Aim-assist in Overwatch is broken, but Blizzard is working on it
Aim-assist, meant to be a helpful tool in the console versions of Overwatch, seems to currently be doing more harm than good. Thankfully however, Blizzard has found the issue and will fix it soon.As can be seen in the video below (courtesy of YouTuber Brendan Burns), the console aim-assist actually directs the reticule down when an enemy player jumps. This means that a player must fight against the system itself in order to continue shooting at the enemy character.

“We’ll look into this. Thank you for posting,” Game Director Jeff Kaplan responded to complaints on the Overwatch forums.
Soon after, Lead Engineer Tim Ford posted, saying, “Thank you all for gathering data on this issue. We’ve identified the defect and a fix will be available with the next console patch.”
There still no word as to when that patch might arrive, but look for it in the near future. Worst-case scenario, the fix will arrive alongside the Season 2 changes making their way to the game early next month. Until then, you can turn off aim-assist in the game’s settings.
In other Overwatch news, the game’s first new map since launch, Eichenwalde is currently available in the PC Public Test Region. It too will make the jump to consoles in the weeks to come.
