For anyone that has yet to jump into the world of Destiny, now is the time. Bungie and Activision have revealed Destiny – The Collection.
The Collection gives players the chance to upgrade their FPS experience from the older PS3 and Xbox 360 to current-gen versions of the game on PS4 and Xbox One. The massive content pack includes all previous releases, including the original game, The Dark Below, House of Wolves and The Taken King. Destiny – The Collection will also include the game’s newest expansion, Rise of Iron, and is scheduled for a worldwide release alongside that expansion on September 20, 2016 for $60 USD.
This announcement marks the final split between last and current generation console support; Bungie has taken to calling the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 “Legacy” consoles, and has previously stated that Legacy and current consoles will not see the same content releases going forward. From now through January 31, 2017, Destiny – The Collection will allow Legacy players to transfer their Destiny characters from old platforms to their new consoles through the game’s upgrade program. Upgrading to a current console version of The Collection for those that already have a last gen version of The Taken King costs $40 USD.
Although Rise of Iron won’t be available until its worldwide release on September 20, players who pre-order Destiny – The Collection will be able to immediately play the original game, The Dark Below, House of Wolves and The Taken King. In addition to old content being made instantly available, those who preorder The Collection or Rise of Iron will receive the fan-favorite, black and silver Iron Gjallarhorn Rocket Launcher, and digital pre-orders or pre-orders made at select retailers will also include the Iron Gjallarwing Sparrow.
Rise of Iron, the latest expansion that will also be included in The Collection, features a new story campaign and quests; all new armor, weapons and gear; and new enemies, bosses, zones and more.
