Dragon Quest X is now confirmed to be in development for the Nintendo NX.
While not flat out announced, a NX version of the MMO from Square Enix was mentioned during an interview between Famitsu (via DualShockers) and Dragon Quest X Producer Yosuke Saito and Director Chiara Saito. When asked about the server capacity of the Wii, Wii U and PC versions of the title, Saito referenced the PlayStation 4 and NX ports of the game.
“I think there will be an influx of new players that peaks with the launch of the PS4 and NX editions”, said Saito. “Up until then, rather than the incoming new players, we are doing our best for the people who are playing already.”
The game, which is currently running version 3.3, is expected to launch on PS4 and NX with version 4.0, of which Saito said “version 4 is already running, of course. It’s running, but I can’t say anything else.”
Dragon Quest X joins a still relatively short list of games confirmed to be coming to Nintendo’s mysterious NX, including Just Dance, a new untitled Sonic game, and Nintendo’s own The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
There is no date currently announced for the Western release of Dragon Quest X.
