Rising Star Games has announced that Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse is getting a physical edition for the Nintendo 3DS. The platform adventure game will be sold at retailers in the United States September 27 and in Europe September 30.
Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse will be priced at $29.99 and marks the first Shantae game to receive a psychical release in over a decade.
The boxed copy of the game also includes new content unavailable in the previously released version. Exclusive to the physical edition is “Super Shantae Nab!!,” a new arcade-style game. Whether or not the game has any more additional content or changes is yet to be revealed.
“Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse tells the story of the hair-whipping half-genie Shantae,” Rising Star Games described. “She must use her abilities to stop, you guessed it, an evil pirate curse. Shantae must explore the many islands of Sequin Land to find a way to beat the curse. She does this by utilizing a variety of pirate-themed items and weapons she finds on her journey.”
The game was developed by WayForward Technologies and first released in 2014 digitally on Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. A Steam version of the game was also released the following year.
