Publisher 2K Games has announced that the console editions of XCOM 2 will be delayed by a few weeks from its previously intended release.
Rather than its initial September 6th launch, the turn-based strategy game is coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on September 27th in North America and September 30th internationally.
During Take-Two’s quarterly earnings call, President of the company Karl Slatoff explained the delay was made to “ensure the game is fully polished at launch and meets the team’s high standards.”
He also said that Firaxis plans to continue support for the PC version with “free and paid downloadable content” after the console versions release.
Firaxis Games is working with The Workshop for the console ports of the game. XCOM 2 will cost $59.99 for the Standard Edition while the Digital Deluxe Edition is $74.99. The Deluxe Edition includes the Season Pass comprised of three DLC packs: Anarchy’s Children, Alien Hunters, and Shen’s Last Gift.
XCOM 2 launched as a PC exclusive game back in February; the console versions were announced in June.
