DICE has revealed new details on a map coming to Battlefield 1 as free DLC in December called Giant’s Shadow. The map’s setting is the Battle of the Selle, which took place in 1918. Rather than trenches, the combat will take place mostly in an open field.
“Here, the fighting moves out of the trenches and into open country where a massive crashed airship casts its shadow onto the battlefield,” DICE said on their official website. “The British forces have broken through the Hindenburg line and are now in pursuit towards an important railway center. Fierce infantry and tank engagements ensue on the open ground and river banks alongside the Cateu-Wassigny railway where an armored train can still turn the tide.”
Other maps for the game revealed so far include: The St. Quentin Scar, Sinai Desert, Amiens, Monte Grappa and Empire’s Edge. DICE plans to release four expansion packs for Battlefield 1, starting with the “They Shall Not Pass” expansion coming March 2017. Players can purchase the game’s Premium Pass for $50 that includes all the expansions containing 16 multiplayer maps total.
Recently, EA released the results of Battlefield 1’s open beta test, which revealed that over 13 million players participated. Battlefield 1 releases on Xbox One, PS4 and PC on October 21.
