Beyond Good and Evil 2 may have just gotten a new and plot-important teaser, courtesy of the series’ creator, Michel Ancel.
Ancel is the creative mind behind the original Beyond Good and Evil, and it has been known for some time that he was working on a sequel. Now, however, it seems that Ancel has posted on his instagram what may be concept art for the upcoming sequel: A rugged, sunglassed man with a child anthromorphic pig on his shoulder and an eyeball flying above them both. The accompanying caption reads: “Somewhere in system 4 … – Thanks #ubisoft for making this possible!”
This image is dripping with hints, the most obvious being that System 4 was the setting of the first game. The rest is speculation that doesn’t exactly seem far-fetched: The young pig could be a young Pey’j, from the first game, who was known to be a good friend of (first game protagonist) Jade’s father. That may mean this rugged man is Jade’s father. Not to mention, eyes definitely served an important role in the first game.
What’s most intriguing about this image, however, is the suggestion that this new game might not be a sequel, but a prequel. Whatever the case, we will hopefully be hearing more about this long-awaited follow-up soon.
