As gamers begin to finally get a solid idea what the rest of this console generation might look like, complete with 4K and HDR support, plenty of titles have announced they will be joining the graphically enhanced future. Unfortunately it doesn’t appear Destiny Rise of Iron will be one of those titles, at least not out of the gate.
During a roundtable interview (via GameSpot) Bungie answered questions about PS4 Pro support, responding with, “No, not for Rise of Iron. We’re all done. As far as the future… We have nothing to announce today, but we’ll certainly be looking at it.”
The developer’s comments can be construed two ways: one being that Rise of Iron will never receive PS4 Pro support and that we will have to wait for the next expansion or Destiny 2, or the other being that Rise of Iron simply won’t launch with the support but might see it in the future. Either way, gamers will likely have to wait and see.
Destiny: Rise of Iron is the second major expansion for the game, following last year’s Taken King. It launches September 20 for PS4 and Xbox One. To get players caught up, Bungie is offering Destiny: The Collection, bringing together the base game and all the DLC, including Rise of Iron.
As for games that are receiving PS4 Pro patches, multiple titles have already promised support, including Activision’s other juggernaut, Call of Duty. Both Black Ops III and Infinite Warfare will be receiving patches. The rest of the list includes Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Battlefield 1, Uncharted 4, and many more. The PS4 Pro launches November 10.
