Those waiting for Dragon Quest VIII to release on the 3DS will have to wait a little longer.
Nintendo has announced that Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King has been delayed until 2017. The 3DS port of the PlayStation 2 classic was set to release later this year.
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past is still set to be released on the 3DS later this month. The 3DS port will rebuild the visuals of the original, and will provide a complete retelling of the game’s plot. Players will be able to customize their party from more than 30 classes, and level up in turn-based battles as they learn new spells and abilities. The 3DS version of the game will include a StreetPass feature that will allow players to send and receive traveler’s tablets to explore new dungeons that will contain rare monsters and unique equipment.
It was confirmed last month that Dragon Quest X would be making its way over to Nintendo’s NX system. The game will join a growing list of games for the system, including Just Dance, a new untitled Sonic game, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Both a Mario title and a Pokemon title are rumored to be coming to the NX within six months of the consoles release.
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King will be available on the Nintendo 3DS in 2017.
