Remedy Entertainment, the team behind Alan Wake and Quantum Break, have announced their shift in focus from single-player games to multiplayer.
“Single-player experience has always been an important focus for us. At the same time, we want to challenge ourselves to find ways to also expand these elements to include cooperative multiplayer,”Game Director Mikael Kasurinen and Creative Director Sam Lake said on Remedy’s website.
Back in July, Remedy announced that they would be developing the story mode for Crossfire 2 with Smilegate. They also revealed a second unannounced game project, presumably one with an emphasis on multiplayer. Also, it was revealed that they’re working on a “long-term road map for Northlight,” the company’s primary game engine and tool.
“We will always strive to be the best storytellers we possibly can, and we want these stories to be shared and elevated through players’ cooperation. We believe that a multiplayer experience combined with Remedy’s unique world-building provides an exceptional environment for that,” the devs continued.
In addition to the announcement, Remedy has an open position for a new Lead Network Programmer, “who will be at the center of developing and shaping the multiplayer technology and features of Northlight.”
Stay tuned for more updates on the developer’s future multiplayer endeavors.
