South Park: The Fractured But Whole’s release date has been pushed back to Q1 2017, Ubisoft announced in a blog post.
“The development team wants to make sure the game experience meets the high expectations of fans and the additional time will help them achieve this goal,” Ubisoft said.
A Q1 launch places the game’s release window in the first quarter of the year, between January and March. The Fractured But Whole was initially intended to launch December of this year.
The game will feature updates and twists on the original’s turn-based combat. Aspects like cover, obstacles, and tactical positioning have all been incorporated in the fighting system.
The Fractured But Whole is the follow-up to 2014’s Stick of Truth. In both games players assume the role as the new kid in South Park, who has a natural skill in farting. Instead of the first game’s fantasy theme, the Fractured But Whole is based around the children in town pretending to be super heroes.
Earlier last month, Ubisoft revealed a VR headset specifically designed for the game. The Nosulus Rift, as it’s called, immerses the player with fart-smelling technology.
The Fractured But Whole will release on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Stay tuned for the game’s official release date.
