Although Titanfall 2 will be playable on both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles, Titanfall 1 was only ever available on Xbox One and 360 consoles. According to a interview on PlayStationLifeStyle with Respawn Entertainment’s Art Director Joel Emslie and Chief Operating Officer Dusty Welsh, while the team wanted to bring the series to the PlayStation platform from the beginning, it was ultimately up to EA and Microsoft. The duo have expressed their happiness over Titanfall 2’s upcoming release to the PlayStation 4.
“That decision [to remain exclusive to Xbox] is one that was out of our hands — the EA decision with Microsoft,” Emslie stated, “We would always like these [games] to be multiplatform. The more consumers that can play ’em, the better. It’s not about money, it’s about the audience base, which is important.”
Other interesting features mentioned in the interview include the reiteration that future modes and maps will be completely free DLC for all players. Furthermore, the team explained that most of the resources is focusing on making sure the base game was feature complete and full of content. “Certainly, our focus has been day 1, in the box, cramming as much as we can possibly get in there so that people are really feeling like they got the value of their money — like they got their money’s worth.”
