2K and Gearbox Software have announced that Borderlands: The Handsome Collection is free this weekend on Xbox One as a part of Microsoft’s Multiplayer All-Access Event.
Starting today, October 27, all Xbox Live members, Silver included, can pick up the collection for free until October 30. “No strings attached – we’re talking to all you Xbox Live Silver members out there: you’re in the game and able to play online with buddies as well!.” 2K said in a blog post.
Borderlands: The Handsome Collection includes two games: Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, with all their respective DLC included. Head over to Microsoft Store page or the ready to install section on Xbox One to start downloading.

After the free weekend, players who want to continue playing must purchase the full game. Earlier today, there was confusion surrounding the promotion prior to any official announcement. NeoGaf user Outlaw Torn was quick to spot the collection on his ready to install page this morning.
A tweet made on the official game’s Twitter, mentions the collection being free this weekend on Xbox 360 as well. Although the games first released individually on the Xbox 360 among other platforms, the Handsome Collection is remastered versions of the originals for current-generation consoles. The mention of 360 most likely refers to the availability to play multiplayer for free on the last-gen console and not collection itself.
