Bungie has spoken out regarding the issue of Destiny cheaters in the Crucible, the game’s competitive multiplayer mode.
Chris Shannon, one of Bungie’s community managers, addressed the topic in a post on Bungie’s official blog:
“Recently, there has been some concern about cheating in the Crucible, most specifically DDoSing in Trials of Osiris. This is a subject we take very seriously.”
Shannon mentions that they have a full-time security team dealing with issues such as this. “They tell us that in-game reports are the best way to send us data on malicious activity,” Shannon says. “All in-game reports of cheating are monitored, and our security team closely examines all of the top reported offenders. If you are unable to send an in-game report, we have also setup an additional online reporting tool that can be used.”
The online reporting tool can be found here.
He then goes on to request that players use the official reporting tool rather than posting complaints about players suspected of cheating in the forums, as the official tool will ensure that Bungie sees it. He also mentions that there are other automated systems in place to deal with cheaters, but they do not tell players how they work so that cheaters can’t figure out how to avoid detection.
