Gears of War may expand to more genres
Gears of War 4 is releasing later this month. Fans of the series have been waiting a long time for this. Since the conclusion of the original trilogy, many years have passed and a new enemy may threaten the good people the COG are meant to protect. The story of Gears of War has plenty more to offer and the people in charge may just find more than one way to tell it.During the Xbox Fanfest in Sydney, Australia, both Phil Spencer and The Coalition creative director Chuck Osieja took the stage and had to answer the question, "If Gears of War could expand into any other gaming genre, what would it be?" Hesitating to answer and trying to be careful, it seemed as though this was already something they had thought of themselves.

During the Xbox Fanfest in Sydney, Australia, both Phil Spencer and The Coalition creative director Chuck Osieja took the stage and had to answer the question, “If Gears of War could expand into any other gaming genre, what would it be?” Hesitating to answer and trying to be careful, it seemed as though this was already something they had thought of themselves.
After Osieja danced around the question a bit, Spencer added some more information. “Definitely when we got the team together and talked about the future of Gears of War, I think there’s multiple ways that you can tell that story,” he stated. “Multiple gameplay genres. I think it’s a really big IP and it’s an IP that could exist in linear form, in books. We’ve seen that in different gaming genres.”
