Sony has officially announced that Gravity Rush 2 has been delayed until early next year.
On the PlayStation Blog, Game Director Keiichiro Toyama stated that Gravity Rush 2 has been pushed back to January 20th, 2017. The game was originally meant to release in December of this year. Toyama states that a lot of work went into the title’s online features that allow for asynchronous player interaction, and that they want as many people as possible to play the title. Thus, the studio decided to push it back.
“I would like to apologize to all those players anxiously awaiting Gravity Rush 2,” Toyama stated. “After four years of development making a title we are very proud of, we want to release it at the very best time.”
Toyama also announced that the studio will now release the premium DLC planned for Gravity Rush 2 free of charge. The DLC will tell a story that takes place in the game’s world.
Gravity Rush 2 will release on January 20th. The game will be a PlayStation 4 exclusive. An anime is also planned for the title, and is called Gravity Rush The Animation ~Overture~. The anime’s story will bridge the gap between the first game and the upcoming sequel.
