Bandai Namco has announced a new Power Rangers game for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, arriving in 2017. The game, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Mega Battle, has been revealed in a trailer posted on Bandai Namco’s YouTube page.
The game is a four-player 2D beat ’em up based on the original Power Rangers TV series. The source material is more than just the aesthetic, as each level in the game will be based on an episode from the original series, and everything from the dialogue to the enemies will be pulled straight from the show.
Players will be able to choose their favorite Power Ranger and level up their abilities over the course of the game, unlocking new moves, attacks, and weapons. You can also unlock new Rangers and costumes from the second season of the show.
Mega Battle will feature a combat system based around stringing combos together, having you mix up different light and heavy attacks, as well as weapon and projectile attacks. There will also be an emphasis on co-op play, with special moves where you can combine your skills with other players for powerful attacks. Most importantly, you will be able to summon Megazord.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Mega Battle will release in January, 2017 as a digital download.
