There’s something jarring in watching famous people in video game trailers. Especially when they do not exactly relate to the game. In the newest Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare trailer, a series of actors and actresses take to space and shoot each other. One surprise appearance is of famous American Olympic Swimmer Michael Phelps who unfortunately loses his chance at some sweet kills thanks to a rude rocket launcher wielding Danny McBride, yes the comedian Danny McBride.
According to the video’s description, the trailer shows off a crew of gamers, which includes Michael Phelps and Danny McBride, being shuttered off to space in order to engage in zero gravity space fights in planes and in ground combat. All of which is to show that anyone can play the game and everyone can be a competitive soldier in the name of fun.
With the release date for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare coming quite soon, the team is currently using the feedback they’ve received from players during the open beta a while back in order to tweak and improve the gaming experience.
In the same vein, Sony shacked together with Infinity Ward to release a bizarre ‘retro’ trailer for the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Zombies game mode on the PlayStation 4 Pro. It contains some throwbacks to the old Sony logo and the “This is for the players” slogan.
