Rockstar is cracking down on cheaters in GTA Online. Many players have managed to get their hands on a lot of extra cash by cheating and modding, but this has now been corrected by Rockstar.
All players who gained money through illegitimate means have received a message informing them that their account balance has been adjusted, and any money gained by cheating has been removed from their accounts. On the Rockstar Support website, the developer gives the following statement on the matter:
“To keep the gameplay environment fair we have removed illegitimately gained in-game money from player accounts. If you received an alert saying that your shared bank balance was adjusted, that is because you had illegitimate funds in your account.”
They also stated that in-game money purchased via Shark Cards — which is GTA Online’s way of using real world money to purchase in-game money — has not been affected, and will remain in all players’ accounts.
On top of this, Rockstar has recently updated their policy on cheating, with several actions resulting in either a suspension, a ban, or having your progress reset. The developer have stated that all of these decisions will be final and may not be appealed for any reason.
