Many speculate the shift in consumer preference has been contributed by the launch of the Xbox One S, the slimmer version of the console with 4K and HDR support.
In addition to the Xbox One S, numerous Microsoft exclusives have released these past two months including ReCore, Forza Horizon 3 and Gears of War 4.
Despite its recent success, Microsoft may see more competition with Sony’s release of the PlayStation 4 Pro in November. The PlayStation 4 Pro will upscale games to 4K and support 4K streaming, but will not include a 4K Blu-ray drive. It will also include improved hardware for increased performance.
Microsoft’s own improvements to the console’s hardware will be released later next year with the currently code-named Scorpio console. Stay tuned for more updates on the competing performance of these two consoles.
