While Blizzard is mostly known for its extremely rich lore and storytelling abilities, this is nothing without worthy gameplay to accompany it. Over the past two decades, the company has proven they are capable of stretching across a multitude of genres. Having the most successful MMORPG of all time with World of Warcraft and putting a spin on the MOBA world with Overwatch, it seems like there is nothing they can’t do. Now Blizzard is looking to take another step outside of their comfort zone.
On the Careers section of the Blizzard website, it appears that they have begun hiring Lead Software Engineers to work on an unannounced game/project. The only description given is that it will work on a “robust first-person engine.” While Overwatch is technically a Hero Shooter, it does use a first person perspective, so this isn’t wildly out of the range of Blizzard, but it does have our heads thinking.
It seems like it would be way too soon for this to be a new installment to Overwatch, unless it is simply to work on special DLC for the title or something of that sort. Either way, any new game/project that Blizzard is working on is something we’re interested in. Hopefully we’ll learn more soon.
