It was revealed that during the campaign, players will be able to take on additional side missions that will allow them to earn upgrades. The upgrades persist through multiple playthroughs, and include suit upgrades, as well as Jackal upgrades. Suit upgrades include faster reloads, faster health regeneration, and faster weapon swap. Jackal upgrades include outfitting the fighter jet with new weapons, better thrusters, and stronger armor.
In the Story missions and the Ship Assault Missions, players will be able to find weapon armories that will grant rewards. Armories can contain additional weapons, including unique and powerful weapons that can eliminate enemies with a single blast. Armories will also contain an Equipment Upgrade Console that will allow players to upgrade a piece of their gear. These upgrades and weapons will be available to the player throughout the campaign, so they are worth hunting down.
It was revealed that Infinite Warfare will feature a Specialist Mode, which is unlocked by beating the game on any difficulty. In this mode, there is no health regeneration, and players can only heal with Nano Shots. Helmets will be the only protection from headshots, and will take damage and will need to be replaced. Players must remember that both Nano Shots and helmets will take up equipment slots. It is critical that players master the lean from behind cover mechanic. Also, getting shot in the leg will impact movement, and getting shot in the arm will impact the ability to use equipment or aim down sights. Weapons can also be shot out of a player’s hands.
Along with the Specialist Mode is the YOLO Mode. This mode is unlocked after beating the game on Specialist, and implements permadeath. If a player dies, they have to start all the way back at the beginning of the campaign.
Activision also gave out a few tips for Infinite Warfare’s multiplayer. Players should keep an eye out for Perks and Rig Traits that synergize well together. Prototype weapons will come in four tiers: common, rare, legendary, and epic. There will be a number of ways to obtain these weapons in Infinite Warfare. Players can use Salvage, the crafting currency that they are able to earn while they play, to create Prototype weapons that come with both cosmetic and gameplay perks. Salvage can be earned through daily login bonuses, Mission Teams, and Supply Drops. If an item that is already owned is found in a Drop, it will be “burned” and turned into Salvage. Mission Teams will give out unique challenges that will grant rewards, including Prototype weapons that are exclusive through Mission Teams. Each team has a specialization that will encourage players to try different modes, and reward them for mixing things up.
A few details for Infinite Warfare’s Zombies mode, entitled Zombies in Spaceland, were also released. Gamers should try to find N31L the challenge robot early on, as the tickets earned from the challenges he gives you can be exchanged for weapons and gear at Concession Stands. Candy Machines can grant additional gameplay perks, with the player being able to have five enabled at a time. However, the perks will be lost if the player goes into Last Stand. Gamers can level up through a progression system that will grant the ability to add attachments to wall-buy weapons. Fate and Fortune Cards can be enabled after gaining enough kills. Once they are all used up, they can be restocked at a Fate and Fortune Booth for a price.
Finally, it was announced that the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare – Jackal Assault VR Experience will be available to all PlayStation 4 owners.
