We are all familiar with JRR Tolkien’s mythical realm of Middle Earth, populated by Orcs and Elves, Men and Dwarves (and of course Hobbits.) The world famous books and subsequent films have been made in to numerous computer games that either followed the exact story of the movies, or tread a different path. Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, a game set in the time frame between the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings trilogy, is now available on the newly released PlayStation 4 Pro in superb 4K resolution. The trailer looks to show off the game’s new graphical detail.
The game has received numerous awards, including the coveted Game Developers Choice Awards’ Game of the Year for 2014. You control the character Talion in a tale of revenge against the forces of Sauron, in an open world action-adventure. One of its most celebrated features is the use of the “Nemesis System” where specific NPC’s populated the world and react differently depending on your previous interactions. This brings a new angle to the melee based combat that is a signature of anything Tolkien related, making fans of the genre hold Shadow of Mordor in very high esteem.
The game originally launched in 2014, with the Game of the Year Edition releasing the following year, but the free patch allows those with a PS4 Pro, and a television good enough, to run the game at 4K resolution.
