On November 1st, Mythic Games and Monolith Entertainment launched their Kickstarter for their ambitious tabletop game Mythic Battles: Pantheon. As of November 3rd, two days later, it’s raised almost 5 times the original goal of $80000, and has only two more stretch goals to complete.
According to the description, “Mythic Battles: Pantheon is a miniatures board game for 2 to 4 players that puts you in an Olympian God’s sandals! It offers several game modes: from tactical battles against other Gods, to scenarios and campaigns that’ll take you on an epic adventure across the devastated ruins of Ancient Greece. A typical game lasts 60-90 minutes.”
The game involves playing as a weakened Greek god after a harrowing fight with the Titans. Each player takes up the mantle of a now-mortal god, gathering up energy and an army to become the new ruler of Olympus. There’s a lot of customization for your team, so if you want to be a god that’s trailed by a slobbering horde of monsters, you can do that if you’re so inclined.
The game comes with it’s own board, dice, and beautifully rendered miniatures of every god, monster, and minion, including whatever stretch goals they make it to. With a month left in the campaign, it’s looking like they’re going to hit all of them.
Fans of strategy, pillaging, tabletop games, and Greek myths should all pick up Mythic Battles: Pantheon. But hurry, the Kickstarter ends December 1st.
The game is planned to release December 2017, but the team stresses that this is an estimate.
