Persona 5 has been delayed yet again. The game’s new release date is April 4, 2017 for North America and Europe, Atlus announced today.
During a livestream event , president of Atlus America Naoto Hiraoka revealed that the Japanese release of Persona 5 exceeded their expectations.
“With this great success came added pressure from the West,” Hiraoka said. “We do not want to compromise on the script one bit and ensure that the quality of the game in the West reaches the same bar set by the Japanese release.”
Alongside the announcement, Atlus revealed that the Western version of Persona 5 will include dual audio options, with Japanese voiceover as free DLC. In addition, the game will be playable in English at this year’s PlayStation Experience event on December 3 and 4.
A new trailer was also released for the game showing off how the Phantom Thieves balance their dual lives. Check it out below:
“…We are hard at work on re-re-examining the localization doing additional voice recording that wasn’t originally planned, and putting our maximum effort into ensuring Persona 5 becomes the new gold standard for localization,” Hiraoka continued.
Prior to today, Persona 5 was set to launch in North America on February 14. The game will now release April 4 on PlayStation 3 and PS4.
Stay tuned for more updates on the game.
