PlayStation 4 sales have gone up significantly in the UK after the release of the new Pro.
According to GfK hardware data seen by MCV for the week ending Saturday, November 12th, overall PlayStation 4 sales rose 204% week-on-week. 65% percent of the sales were of the new Pro model. Sales of the launch and slim models were up 8.5% week-on-week. Overall, PlayStation 4 sales were 44% higher than Xbox One sales. Sony’s console claimed 53% of the hardware market, while Microsoft’s system took 37%.
Microsoft also had a good sales period. The Xbox One saw an 85% increase week-over-week. This could be due to the price drop of the original Xbox One models.
Last month Sony unveiled two new PlayStation 4 Pro Controllers that are being designed by Razor and Nacon. The Razor Raiju was designed with eSports tournaments in mind. The controller will offer extra detachable bumpers and triggers, as well as a built-in chat control panel on the front. Razor’s new controller also allows trigger-stop switches and hair trigger mode for quicker responses. The Nacon Revolution was designed for those who prefer the thumbstick layout of the Xbox One controller. The Revolution offers four extra shortcut buttons on the back of the controller, as well as two internal compartments with additional weights for a custom balance. Both controllers are expected to release this holiday season.
The PlayStation 4 was released on November 10th for $399.
