Despite a rocky first impression, Pokemon GO has seen unprecedented success since its launch in July. Niantic has kept true to its word (for the most part) and fixed Pokemon GO’s numerous server issues, glitches, and bugs. Niantic even updated the game with numerous welcome tweaks and features, including the buddy system that allows players to earn candy for that one rare Pokemon they only caught once and never found again. Now, with Thanksgiving quickly approaching, Niantic is giving players who have stayed with Pokemon GO a new in-game event as a very large, and very welcome, thank you.
Between November 23rd and November 30th, players will receive double XP and stardust rewards for completing in-game events. Anything from catching a Pokemon to participating in a gym battle, will count towards this XP and stardust bonus.
Pokemon GO has had two events in the past, one of which was a Halloween-themed event. This event increased the drop rates of candy and increased the spawn rates of Pokemon like Ghastly, Drowzee, Zubat, Cubone, Meowth, and their respective evolutions. Niantic has not announced any plans to increase the spawn rates of specific Pokemon for its Thanksgiving event, but the increased XP and stardust is welcome nonetheless. With any luck, Niantic will continue to provide players with holiday events in the future.
