The PlayStation 4 is getting a dose of rock music and racing. Courtesy of Unfinished Pixel and EnjoyUp Games, Rock’N Racing Off Road DX is a top down, 4 player racer that is currently available for the Xbox One and Wii U, and debuts today on the PlayStation Store.
If you are unfamiliar with the title, then the general synopsis of the game from its creators is: “Rock’N Racing Off Road DX offers the most entertaining and exciting races, with loads of skids, crashes and amazing jumps. You will have several modes of play, such as Cup mode, time trial and multi-player with the option of up to 4 Players at a time.”
There is an Online Ranking Function, which will allow you to check your times against the community and your friends across the wide variety of tracks in the game.
Although Rock’N Racing Off Road DX may not be in the same category or league (or even sport) as blockbuster titles such as the Forza series, or PlayStation’s own Gran Turismo franchise, it could prove to be an enjoyable and highly playable game. It has a great rock soundtrack well suited to the action, and the physics of its jumps and crashes are boasted at being nicely realistic. Its graphics are also rendered at 1080p. The style of of the game is almost custom made for some excellent couch multi-player moments, and at $7.99 is merely a fraction of the price of other big games in the genre.
