Team Secret and the MongolZ win big at this year’s ROG Masters
The ROG Masters grand finals took place last weekend. This event put some of the best eSports teams from all across Asia and the Oceanic against each other for a chance at one of the biggest prize pools in the region. In this event, The MongolZ took home the CS:GO championship, beating out fierce competition along the way.Bat-Enkh 'kabal' Batbayar, one of the teams newest members remarked on his excitement of the team's championship win by stating in a press release, “I feel very excited. This is my first time being champion.” This win held great significance to the CS:GO scene in Mongolia. According to team member Gan-Erdene 'dobu' Batbold, “[the country] has many talented players”, but ping is serious barrier to being able to compete. Hopefully this win will allow the community of this country more opportunities to compete in future events.

Along with the CS: GO grand finals, Team Secret took home the DOTA 2 championship title. KheZu the team’s newest addition commented on his experience with the team and how this win has affected the current composition of the team. He states, “We’re trying to figure out what is best… but right now it feels like I fit in well, and that it’s easy for me to play because they are helping me to improve… they’re really good, and they know a lot. I’m enjoying myself!” One key feature that many have contributed to the team’s victory is the unity that exists among the team’s players. This became apparent after seeing how the team came together after losing their first round against Mineski. This unity among the player allowed them to stay composed throughout the event leading to their victory in grand finals.
The ROG Masters is a newly created eSports competition that is run and organized by computer and hardware manufacture, ASUS. The event is intended to put a spotlight on undiscovered talent across the Asian and Oceania regions. This year’s event took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia were teams went head to head for their chance at a $200,000 USD prize pool and a chance to jump start a career in eSports.
