Assassin’s Creed movie director hints at a possible sequel
The director of the Assassin's Creed movie, Justin Kurzel, hopes there is a future for the Assassin's Creed movie franchise. Kurzel says if the movie receives a sequel he wants it to take place in America during the Cold War."I thought about maybe not going too far back, maybe into, like, the '50's in America," says Kurzel, speaking with French website PREMIERE (via Comic Book Movie). "Recent history is something I'm quite interested in. You can definitely kind of do a film-noir thing to it."

Assassin’s Creed is known for letting players visit important historical eras, including but not limited to the Third Crusade, the Renaissance, and the Colonial Era. While most games take place before the 20th century, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: Russia takes place during 1918. Furthermore, the comic book miniseries Assassin’s Creed: The Fall takes place between the 19th and 20th centuries. If the Assassin’s Creed movie sequel is made, it might be the third entry in the Assassin’s Creed franchise to take place in the 20th century.
Justin Kurzel’s plans rest on Assassin’s Creed’s box office performance and reviews. If the movie does not make a lot of money or is critically panned, it is unlikely to see a sequel.
The Assassin’s Creed movie will hit theaters December 21st.
