Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XV is now the fastest selling title in the series.
In a press release, Square Enix announced that over 5 million copies of Final Fantasy XV were sold on day one. This includes both physical and digital sales. This makes the latest entry in the franchise the fastest selling game in the series’ long history. This could be due to the fact that the RPG received a worldwide release, rather than a delayed launch in North America and Europe as other titles in the series had received.
Final Fantasy XV received a day one patch that made a number of changes. Entitled the “Crown Update,” the patch fixes some minor bugs, and makes some camera improvements that make it easier to track action going on in narrow areas. A “Monster Whistle” was added that can be used to call out monsters, the new “Wait Mode” function received an ability tree for more in-depth strategic elements, and a social network function that allows players to upload Prompto’s photographs to Facebook and Twitter was added. New scenes were added, as well as recipes and fish varieties for players who enjoy collecting items.
Final Fantasy XV is available now on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
