Survival horror fans around the world can rejoice now that Resident Evil 7’s demo is available on PC.
During Sony’s E3 2016 presentation, Capcom announced the latest entry in the long-running Resident Evil franchise. Shortly after the presentation, Sony released a playable demo of Resident Evil 7 on the PlayStation Store. After releasing to the Xbox One earlier this month, the demo is now available on PC via Steam.
The playable teaser, titled Beginning Hour, has received two updates since its initial release on the PlayStation Store. Both updates introduced new items and rooms for players to use and explore.
In Resident Evil 7, players will wander the halls of a dilapidated mansion. Instead of facing off against series staples Albert Wesker or the Umbrella Corporation, player will instead encounter the Baker Family, three insane individuals with superhuman speed, strength, and stamina. The Bakers also have regenerative abilities that allow them to recover from any injury in seconds, including, and especially, fatal ones.
Many fans of the Resident Evil franchise agree that Resident Evil 4 was the last good game in the series. Resident Evil 5 and 6 received criticism due to a focus on horror-themed action rather than survival-horror. Resident Evil 7 appears to return to the series’ roots.
Resident Evil 7 is slated to release January 24, 2017.
