After Pokemon GO fansite The Silph Road datamined version 0.49.1, they published their results, and they’re more than was expected. The official patch notes of what’s currently active in the game are as follows:
- Trainers will be able to transfer multiple Pokemon at a time to Professor Willow. To use this function, press and hold on a Pokemon.
- Pokemon type icons have been added to the Gym battle approach and Gym battle screen.
- The total Candy count for your Buddy Pokemon has been added to the buddy information screen.
- The total kilometers a buddy has walked has been added to the information screen of each Pokemon that has ever been your buddy.
- Minor text fixes.
However, there’s evidence of much, much more to come.
First off: Audio for 100 more Pokemon, the exact amount from Gen. 2 in the Johto Region, are in the game. Gen. 2 is definitely on its way! We also have confirmation that “gender” is being added to the game, but so far no evidence of this being a stat visible to the player– which may mean further behind-the-scenes stat variation. Shinies, too, are all but confirmed, giving veterans a reason to keep hunting those special Pokemon.
Cosmetically, the updates are big: There are more avatar customization options coming, with the possibility of in-app purchases for more options, and “unlockable” options– an exciting new mechanic, possibly. Gen. 2 comes with baby Pokemon, and they will get their own position for being “buddy” Pokemon. And last, and perhaps most exciting: Pokemon costumes are coming! The first batch have the keyword “Holiday” and appear to have collision physics, which is interesting to say the least.
Pokemon GO is available for free now, and it looks to have a lot of exciting new content coming in the near future.
