Nintendo is giving trainers a special gift this month with two mythical Pokemon, Meloetta and Magearna.
The year of 2016 was a huge celebration for the Pokemon franchise: Build-A-Bear Workshop partnered with Nintendo to create exclusive stuffed animals, Pokemon Sun and Moon broke the sales records of previous titles, and a little-known Smartphone app known as Pokemon GO took the world by storm. However, people who owned Pokemon X, Y, Alpha Sapphire, and Omega Ruby were able to take full advantage of Nintendo’s celebration.
Back in Febuary, Nintendo gave trainers who owned Pokemon X, Y, Alpha Sapphire, and Omega Ruby free level 100 Mews via the Mystery Gift system, putting to rest once and for all the rumor that Mew was hiding under a truck by the S.S. Anne. The Mystery Gift system has since given trainers one free level 100 mythical Pokemon per month, including Celebi, Jirachi, Darkrai, Manaphy, Shaymin, Arceus, Victini, Keldeo, and Genesect. Throughout the month of December, trainers will receive the final mythical Mystery Gift giveaway, Meloetta.
Meloetta is a Normal/Psychic type and will come with the ability Serene Grace and the moves Quick Attack, Confusion, and Round. Meloetta’s signature move, Relic Song, transforms it into a Normal/Fighting type but has to be taught to Meloetta. Trainers who own Pokemon Sun and Moon are ineligible to receive Meloetta but will instead receive something completely different, Magaerna.
Magearna is a Steel/Fairy type and will come with the ability Soul-Heart and the moves Fleur Cannon, Flash Cannon, Lucky Chant, and Helping Hand. Magearna will be level 50 and comes with three items: a Bottle Cap, a Cherish Ball, and a Wishing Ribbon. Finally, unlike Meloetta, Magearna will only be available to trainers who beat the main story.
Trainers can receive Meloetta until December 24th, but trainers who beat the main story of Sun and Moon can catch Megearna any time they wish, as long as they can scan the QR code on the giveaway site.
