Shovel Knight prequel coming this Spring
Shovel Knight was an overnight success, beloved by all kinds of gamers as a well-made, old-school platformer with lots of charm and wit. The story wasn't thrown in your face, but you cared about the characters. Yacht Club gave us some insight on one of the knights in The Order of No Quarter in their expansion, Plague of Shadows, but now it seems we're getting an entire prequel following Specter Knight in "Specter of Torment".https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRwP0P5j05g
Shovel Knight was an overnight success, beloved by all kinds of gamers as a well-made, old-school platformer with lots of charm and wit. The story wasn’t thrown in your face, but you cared about the characters. Yacht Club gave us some insight on one of the knights in The Order of No Quarter in their expansion, Plague of Shadows, but now it seems we’re getting an entire prequel following Specter Knight in “Specter of Torment”.
Developer Yacht Club Games has put information on their website about the Specter Knight-starring prequel, and has this to say, “Does that sound like a new game?! Well, that’s because we’re building Specter of Torment from the ground up so that it can be a completely unique standalone experience.”
“While Plague of Shadows followed an alternate parallel campaign, Specter Knight travels a new path in this amazing prequel. It’s your mission as Specter Knight to recruit the Order of No Quarter for The Enchantress! Specter Knight’s campaign truly is his own adventure, and we can’t wait for everyone to get their hands on it this Spring.”
The game will contain all new assets, items, music, enemies, bosses, and mechanics. While the trailer shows some familiar locale, Specter of Torment will be it’s own game where you traverse the colorful world of Shovel Knight as a big bad.
Specter of Torment is set to release in Spring of 2017.
