The Season Two finals of the eSports Championship Series (ECS) took place last week, featuring some of the best teams in the world as they battled it out over the course of three days in rounds of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
In the series finals, we saw Danish team, Astralis square off against North American team, OpTic Gaming. Having lost to OpTic in the ELEAGUE finals the previous week, the match held a great significance for Astralis.. Throughout, it was clear that Team Astralis was out for blood. With solid players like Nicolai “Dev1ce” Reedtz and the all-star leadership of Lukas “Gla1ve,” Astralis overtook OpTic with a 2-0 win, taking home the title of ECS Season 2 Champions along with $250,000 in prize money.
All teams that participated in Season 2 of the ECS League receive co-ownership of the league as well as the opportunity to select representatives for the ECS governing committees. The organization raised a total of $1.2 million for this season, which was used to fund prize pools for league events and to provide players with stable salaries, facilities and equipment to keep them doing what they love while also giving back to the community.
