The past several weeks have been a roller coaster for Nintendo fans. For every title making the jump to the new console, like Skyrim, gamers have received news of two titles passing it by, like Borderlands 3 and Titanfall. A recent interview the Daily Express held with Resident Evil producer Masachika Kawata added to the bad news when Kawata admitted that Capcom currently does not have any plans to bring the game to the Nintendo Switch.
“I think it’s a very unique piece of hardware,” says Kawata. “I’m looking forward to the possibilities of the system itself, but we have no plans at the moment regarding Resident Evil on Switch.”
Kawata did not explicitly state that the Switch will never see Resident Evil 7; Capcom could easily be experimenting with the game as you read this article to see if it can be modified to run on the Switch’s hardware. Even if Resident Evil 7 is never ported over to the Nintendo Switch, gamers can still enjoy other Capcom games on the console. Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers has already been announced to release on the Switch, and the long-running Monster Hunter franchise stands a very high chance of being released on the Switch due to its most recent entries being Nintendo console exclusives.
Resident Evil 7 is set to release January 24th for the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. If Capcom ever plans to release a Nintendo Switch port of the game, Gamespresso will cover the announcement.
