Crimson Days, Destiny’s week-long Valentines celebration won’t be returning in 2017, says Bungie in their “This week at Bungie”.

Last year, the event brought a new 2v2 game mode where if your partner fell, you would be buffed by heartbreak and had a chance to change the tide of the battle. It’s sad to see a year without a Valentines Day, but it looks like they’re taking this extra time to work on the next content drop, and a permanent patch definitely takes priority over a temporary event.
They say that the patches available in the Spring will be talked about closer to the thaw, basically refusing to talk about their changes when they’re not very far into the process of creating them. “It’s rarely our policy to issue guarantees about things that are not yet certified for download. Given the work that is being done behind the scenes, however, we feel like we can start to call the shot.”
Bungie refuses to leave their beloved game to fade away, releasing patch after patch, and so far it’s working. Hopefully the Spring patch makes up for a lack of holiday events, and players appreciate it.
