Director Guillermo del Toro has spoken out on his role in Kojima Production’s upcoming title, Death Stranding.
In an interview with IGN, del Toro stated that his role in Death Stranding is strictly as an actor. “I’m involved as a character,” del Toro stated. “Kojima-san called me and said, ‘I want you to be a character in the game,’ and I said, ‘Gladly.’ He’s discussed his ideas so I could understand the character, but other than that I’m not involved, creatively, at all.”
He continues: “This is entirely Kojima-san’s game. I think it’s gonna be a fantastic game, 100%. But this is him and his ideas. I’m just a puppet in his hands. My contribution is limited to being a cheerleader for his ideas and being scanned for long hours at a time. That’s about it.”
It was revealed that del Toro would be a part of Death Stranding at the Game Awards in December. A new trailer was premiered for the title, which gives us a small glimpse of the character that del Toro will be playing. The trailer also revealed that Mads Mikkelsen would star in the game as well. Unfortunately, no gameplay was shown.
Death Stranding is currently in development by Kojima Productions for the PlayStation 4.
